DURGA
Dear mam, This is Durga, a former student of O P Jindal College of Nursing. JSW Foundation helped me to obtain a decent life, I still remember the day when I discontinued from my studies due to financial and personal problems in my BSC nursing first year, and I was working in DTDC courier service for just ₹4000/- per month as a receptionist on 12th pass basis. I was just 18yr old and due to hardships of my life I wasn't able to afford my college fees, then after 2 months I saw a vacancy of Data entry job in JSW HRD department I reached there for interview. But, instead of offering me a job, the HR Mr. Deepanshu sir and Mr. Vinay sir offered me a scholarship and encouraged me to complete my Degree. I was offered scholarship from JSW Benevolence Fund, and that changed my life. I was not so psychologically matured at that point of my life to understand that education can change my life in such a significant manner. I never imagined that I would be able to graduate, but God helped me in my hard days and Thanks to the kindness of JSW foundation it changed my life. My college fees were ₹11000/per year in 2015, but I was not able to afford even that, as my father passed away in 2011 due to Cancer, My mother took care of me and brother, Single handily, but she was uneducated, hence she worked as a shopkeeper in Dhanalakshmi store in S G. Colony Toranagallu, her salary was just ₹3000 per month in those days. It was very difficult for us to survive. Hence I discontinued my studies and started doing a ₹4000 per month job, I also used to take tuition classes to at least 50 school students to help my family. Today ₹11000 per year is not a big deal for me. One second of kindness showered by JSW executives made such a great difference in my life. After completing my Nursing in 2018, I cleared interview in one of the top 10 hospitals of India, I worked as a staff nurse in Lilavati hospital and research centre, I could never even imagine that so many doors would open for me because I am qualified for that. I was very young when I dropped from my college, I was not knowing the power the education. But JSW foundation saw that potential in me, helped me and guided me in right direction. I cleared all subjects of BSC nursing First year and Second Year, total 10 subjects, in a single year, that too with First class marks. All my lecturers in college helped me a lot and supported me very much. Now I am 27yrs old, working as a Registered Nurse in Bangalore, at Narayana Institute of Cardiac Science and I am providing a decent life to my family, just last year I even got married by own money. I am very grateful for the life I have today. I have a happy family. Thank you for Your Kindness, I will forever be grateful for your help! In this world where you can be anything you want, choose to be Kind, that's what I have learnt from Nursing and Kindness has changed my fate and life, and I know there are many out there like me and I am not the only one whom the JSW foundation has helped. Thank you for what you do, and please know that you are changing lives. Thanks and Regards, Durga
